Welcome to my blog, the legal microscope. As the name suggests, here I intend to analyse legal matters, and developments in the law with exacting rigor. First, a little bit about me. I am a graduate of Cardiff University, having earned my LL.B. there. I am presently in the final stages of my LL.M. at the same institution, completing my dissertation on comity and the separation of powers with a dual focus both on theory and substantive law. Over the course of my studies I have developed a strong interest in constitutional law, particularly that of both the United Kingdom and of the United States. I am particularly interested in putting both jurisdictions in dialogue, because of the close affinities they bear in their fundamental commitments whilst they put these principles into practice in quite different, if complementary, constitutional structures. I therefore aspire to pursue doctoral research comparing aspects of the two systems in the future! But that’s enough about me.
Justice Story, that titan among American jurists once said, “The law is a jealous mistress and requires long and constant courtship. It is not won by trifling favours, but by lavish homage.” Well, I suppose both you and I have a common mistress in this case, and both desire to win her hand. I think in this matter, though, more than one suitor is capable of winning. Jokes aside, though the law is a difficult subject to master, indeed won by the lavish homage of years of dedicated study, I intend this blog of mine to be a help to you, my reader, in better understanding the subjects on which I write, particularly constitutional law, though also aspects of intellectual property and commercial law. With this ambition in mind, let us go forward and perfect our legal knowledge!
[Update: As of 25th November 2025, I have it has been confirmed that my LL.M. at Cardiff University has been completed with Distinction]
